Maya Karin is a Malaysian film actress, television host, and singer. Now one of the leading and established actresses in Malaysia’s local film industry, she garnered wide recognition from the critics and public for her award-winning and memorable performances in movies such as Pontianak Harum Sundal Malam, Anak Halal, Ombak Rindu and Munafik 2. Her movies have grossed over RM85m so far. Her recent role in ‘Ombak Rindu’ which reaches RM10.9 million in collection earned her the ‘Pelakon Filem Wanita Popular’ award at the ABPBH 2011.

Maya holds the record in the history of the Malaysia Film Festival for an actress with most nominations in the category of Best Actress Award (10) and she’s among few actresses to have won the award twice. Maya is also the first of only two Malaysian actresses to have won the prestigious Best Actress Award at the Asia-Pacific Film Festival.

Apart from modelling, Maya is also ambassador/spokesperson for the following product – Pantene, Ford, Loreal, Wella, Halle, Yishion, Tag Heuer, Inner Shine, Vono and Sorella.

Maya is a very passionate environmentalist who has been chosen as the speaker for various events including involvement of WWF, Malaysian Nature Society, Ministry of Environs and the media. She has been appointed by the Ministry to help create awareness for the International Year of the Reef 2008, and continues to promote environmental events and issues.

Last year Maya was invited to host Global Summit Women Conference 2013 in Sri Perdana and Istana Negara.
